Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Sweet lingonberry juice from Erken & Steen 1900: berries are cooked down with water, the juice strained and measured, ½ kg sugar per liter and ¼ vanilla pod added, boiled 10 min, skimmed and filled hot into bottles.

Cook down the berries
Boil the cleaned, washed lingonberries with the water until they are well cooked down.
Strain and measure the juice
Strain off the juice and measure the amount.
Boil with sugar
Take ½ kg sugar per liter of juice. Add the vanilla pod and boil the juice for 10 minutes while skimming well.
Fill into warm bottles
Fill the hot juice into warm, dry bottles, cork and seal with wax.
