Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Uncooked lingonberries from Erken & Steen 1900: raw, cleaned berries are placed in jars and completely covered with cold juice boiled from the smallest berries. The berries themselves are not cooked.

Boil juice from the smallest berries
Press and boil juice from the less attractive berries. Let the juice become cold.
Put the raw berries in a jar
Put the choice, cleaned, uncooked berries into clean jars.
Pour over the cold juice
Pour the cold juice over the berries so that it stands well above them. Cover.
