The roots are peeled and cut into oblong, finger-thick pieces.
The butter is browned, the swede pieces are added, and the sugar is sprinkled on. Brown the swede in this, stirring.
Water or stock is poured on, and the swede is cooked slowly until quite tender. When serving, sprinkle finely chopped parsley over the top.
The swede slices may also be boiled beforehand in lightly salted water, turned in breadcrumbs, salt and pepper, and fried a nice brown in butter or fat. Browned onion is placed on top.
