Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Basic rule for boiled puddings: a moistened pudding cloth is tied over the mould with string and a handle knot, and the mould is boiled in a tall pot with plenty of boiling water under a lid for 1–1½ hours. A method, not a single recipe. From Erken & Steen 1900.

Prepare the pudding cloth
Dip a white pudding cloth in boiling water and squeeze some of the water out again. Lay the cloth over the mould.
Tie up
Tie around with string and knot the cloth together at the top so that it forms a handle.
Boil under a lid
Place the mould in a tall pot with boiling water that stands well above the mould. Boil under a lid for 1–1½ hours.
