Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Small meringue kisses from 1900: 4 egg whites are beaten stiff with sugar and a little vinegar, dropped by the teaspoon onto greased paper and dried – first at higher heat, then with the oven door ajar until they are dry.

Pigekys (pikekyss) er små marengstopper av stivpisket eggehvite og sukker, tørrstekt til de er sprø. Fra «Kager» i «Kogebog for skole og hjem» (1900).
Beat the meringue
Beat the egg whites stiff, stir in the sugar, add the vinegar and beat well again.
Place on the tray
Line the greased tray with white, greased paper. Drop the mixture on with a teaspoon.
Dry-bake
Bake first at slightly high heat until the kisses have set, then continue with the oven door ajar. Take them out when they are dry.
