Original 1941 recipe
Verbatim from "Good, cheap daily fare" (1941) – frugal wartime cooking.

Evenly sized potatoes scrubbed and baked in a hot oven with a little salt for about 1 hour, then cut with a cross and the skin folded back for serving. From Henriette Schønberg Erken's «God, billig dagskost» (1941).

Bake the potatoes
Scrub evenly sized potatoes well, place them with a little salt in the roasting pan, put them in a hot oven; they need about 1 hour of baking time.
Serve
As soon as they are tender, take them out, cut a cross in the middle of one side and fold the skin back — or each person can best do this at the table.
