Original 1941 recipe

Sago cooked in milk and butter, taken off the heat and enriched with sugar, salt, beaten egg yolks and finely chopped almonds or creamed coconut, set in moulds and served cold with red sauce. From Henriette Schønberg Erken's «God, billig dagskost» (1941).

Cook the sago
Bring the milk and butter to a boil, sprinkle in the sago and let it cook until the grains are done.
Add yolks and set
Take off the heat and add sugar, salt, the beaten egg yolks and the finely chopped almonds or creamed coconut; pour into a mould or small forms rinsed with cold water.
Serve
Turn out when cold and serve with red sauce.
