Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Queen cakes (dronningkaker) from Kogebog for skole og hjem (1900): 125 g butter and 150 g sugar are creamed until white, 3 eggs and 180 g flour are added alternately, along with 125 g washed currants, 60 g finely chopped candied peel, lemon essence and baking powder. Filled into small moulds and baked for about ½ hour.

Dronningkaker er små formkaker med korinter og sukat, i familie med engelske queen cakes som navnet er avledet fra. De ble bakt i små former og var populære til kaffen og ved festlige anledninger.
Cream butter and sugar
Cream the butter and sugar until white.
Add eggs and flour
Add the eggs and the flour alternately while stirring.
Mix in fruit and flavouring
Stir in the washed currants, the finely chopped candied peel, the lemon drops and the baking powder.
Fill moulds and bake
Fill the batter into small greased moulds and bake them light brown in a moderately hot oven for about half an hour.
