Original 1900 recipe
Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Lemon lemonade from 1900, the invalid-food chapter: thin lemon zest and pressed juice are combined with boiling water, steeped until cold, strained and sweetened with sugar if permitted. Historic invalid food, not medical advice.

Prepare the lemon
Wash and dry the lemon, peel it very thinly and press out the juice.
Combine with boiling water
Combine the peel and the lemon juice with the boiling water, cover and let stand until cold.
Strain and sweeten
Strain, and add the sugar if it is permitted for the patient.
Mengder beholdt (2 1/2 dcl = 2,5 dl, 20 g sukker).
