Verbatim from the 1900 edition of the Cookbook for School and Home (Erken & Caroline Steen).

Blackcurrant juice from Cookbook for School and Home (1900): 1 kg blackcurrants are boiled with 1 liter water until cooked to pieces, strained, the juice boiled with 375 g sugar per liter for a quarter of an hour, skimmed and bottled hot.

En enkel solbærsaft med moderat sukkermengde. Den varme tappingen på oppvarmede flasker er en tidlig konserveringsmetode som reduserer risiko for at flaskene sprekker og gir bedre holdbarhet.
Cook down the berries
Boil the cleaned blackcurrants with the water until the berries are completely cooked to pieces.
Strain the juice
Strain off the juice and measure it.
Boil with sugar
For each liter of juice, add 375 g sugar. Boil for a quarter of an hour and skim.
Bottle
Pour the juice hot into dry, warm bottles. Cork and seal with wax.
