Peel the boiled potatoes, press them apart with a fork or mill them once through the meat grinder, and let them cool.
Mix in the salt, the whisked egg and the flour; work the dough lightly and shape it into round cakes, roughly the size of an egg.
Make a hollow in each cake and put in 1 teaspoon of the finely cut-up, lightly browned ham; press the hole firmly shut again.
Press the cakes a little flat, to about 1.5–2 cm thick; put them in boiling salted water and let them cook slowly without a lid until they float up, or about 10 min.
Serve with lingonberry jam. Leftover kroppkakor can be fried in a little fat or butter and served with lingonberries.
