The jars are boiled out, that is, jars and lids are placed over the heat in cold water and boiled for 5 min. from when the pot boils. Dry in a clean oven, and insert a clean "cotton stopper".
Large, dry berries are packed into clean, dry bottles.
Boil the water with the sugar for 1/4 hour, skim well and pour cold over the berries.
The bottles are corked, placed in a pot with water and boiled for 15 min., and left standing in the water until it is cold.
This is repeated exactly 24 hours later.
The bottles are then tied over with parchment paper dipped in boric-acid water, or they are corked with well-soaked, clean corks and sealed with wax.
