Peel and core the apples; cook them in the water until they are quite falling apart. Take off the heat and add sugar to taste.
As the apples are peeled, they should be put in cold water. Use the apple peel for apple soup.
If the apples are dipped in boiling water for a moment, the peel can easily be "slipped" off.
If dried apples are used, wash them, soak them in cold water overnight and cook them in the soaking water.
If the porridge is thin, add a thickening as explained under red porridge. Pumpkin and apples can be cooked together into a porridge.
