Original 1900 recipe

Simple baked apple pudding: thin apple slices with sugar and cinnamon, covered with a simple egg batter with flour and baking powder, baked soft. From Erken & Steen 1900.

Fra «Kogebog for skole og hjem» (1900) av Henriette Schønberg Erken og Caroline Steen. Den enkleste av to eplepuddinger på oppslaget – eplene ligger i bunnen og dekkes av en enkel eggerøre som stekes i form.
Prepare the apples
Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut them into paper-thin slices. Toss the slices in the sugar and cinnamon.
Place in the dish
Place the apples in a greased ovenproof dish.
Make the batter
Beat the two eggs, stir in the milk, the melted butter, the flour and the baking powder to a smooth batter. Pour the batter over the apples.
Bake
Bake in the dish until the apples are tender, about ½ hour (around 190 degrees).
