Cut the crust thinly off the loaves, slice them, pour over the boiled, lukewarm milk, then add the finely chopped suet, the sugar, the cleaned currants and raisins, the finely cut candied peel, the scalded, finely chopped almonds, the spices, the rum and finally the whisked eggs.
Fill into a greased and coated mould, tie over it a cloth wrung out in boiling water; boil in a pot of boiling water for 1.5–2 hours.
The mould must be filled to the rim, and the water must stand above the mould the whole time during boiling. Turn out.
The pudding can be made several days before it is to be used, but is then reheated the same way in the mould and in boiling water.
