The eggs and sugar are beaten until stiff and the sugar dissolved, then the flour, mixed with the baking powder, is stirred in.
Fill into a greased mould, which should be flat-bottomed, round and wide so the cake does not become too high.
Bake in a moderately warm oven for 0.5 to 0.75 hour.
When it is cold, turn it out, and with a sharp knife split it in two from the side; the part that was facing up in the oven is laid down, and on the cut side put the following cream: 3 eggs, 2 dcl cream, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar and 1 heaped teaspoon potato starch are whisked well over the heat until thick, but must not boil.
Once this has been spread over the one part, the other is laid over with the bottom up.
Into 1.5 dcl rum, stir enough of the finest icing sugar to make a thick paste, which is spread carefully over the cake with a knife.
When it has set a little, the cake can be piped over with piped icing, made as follows: to 1 stiffly beaten egg white add enough fine, lump-free icing sugar to make a stiff mixture, which is stirred well for 10 minutes.
From white paper, make cones with a fine opening at the tip; fill the icing into these and pipe it over the cake in whatever figures you wish.
When the cake is finished, place it on a flat glass dish with cake paper underneath.
