Original 1914 recipe
Verbatim from the first edition of the Big Cookbook.

Cold beer soup from Erken's Stor kokebok 1914: a syrup boiled from sugar, lemon peel, cinnamon and water is cooled and mixed with 2 liters of beer. Served ice cold.

In Erken's cookbook, cold soups (koldskåler) belonged to the soup chapter and were served as a refreshing summer dish, ideally with macaroons, ice wafers or small rusks.
Boil the syrup
Boil sugar, lemon peel, cinnamon and water together into a syrup.
Cool
Strain the syrup and let it become completely cold.
Mix
Mix the cooled syrup into the beer.
Serve
Set the bowl on ice and serve the cold soup well chilled, ideally with macaroons or ice cakes.
Amounts are listed in modern measures (liter, dl, gram). Cinnamon and lemon are specified as a cinnamon stick and lemon peel; the beer given as pale beer. The method is divided into steps.
