How to make it

  1. 1

    Make the filling

Boil the scalded rice in the water until tender. Cool the porridge and mix it with the minced meat, salt, milk, rusk crumbs and pepper.

  2. 2

    Prepare the cabbage

Boil the head of cabbage for 15 minutes in the salted water. Loosen the leaves from the stalk and cut away the thick part of the central rib.

  3. 3

    Roll

Place a lump of filling the size of an egg in each cabbage leaf. Roll up and tie with fine string.

  4. 4

    Brown and cook

Brown the rolls nicely in margarine or pork fat and put them in a pot. Pour over boiling salted water and let them simmer gently until tender.

  5. 5

    Serve

Lift the rolls out and remove the string. Boil the gravy down a little and pour it over.
