Source: Henriette Schønberg Erken, Stor kokebok, 1914-utg. s. 627 (falt i det fri)
The sherry cobbler was an American drink that became fashionable in Europe in the 1800s, drunk ice-cold through a glass straw. Erken includes it among the punches in Stor kokebok (1914).
Combine sugar and wine
Put the sifted sugar in a bowl and pour over the sherry and cognac. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Add berries and ice
Just before serving, add the strawberries and the finely crushed ice.
Serve
Sip through a glass tube (straw).
"fl." is read as a 0.75 l bottle and "del." as deciliter. The sugar is given as sifted powdered sugar (confectioners' sugar). The glass tube corresponds to a modern straw.
