Coffee rings from Erken 1914: small molded cakes of butter, sugar, eggs, and flour with currants, finely julienned orange peel, and a few drops of lemon, baked light golden brown in small tin molds for 15-20 minutes.

Coffee rings are small molded cakes with currants and orange peel, meant to go with coffee. Erken stresses that all the white on the orange peel must be cut away, or the cakes turn bitter.
Cream butter and sugar
Cream butter and sugar until white.
Add eggs and flour
Add the eggs and the sifted flour alternately, a little at a time.
Mix in fruit and flavoring
Stir in the washed currants, the finely julienned orange peel, the lemon essence, and finally the baking powder stirred into a little of the flour.
Fill the molds
Distribute the batter into small, greased tin molds (fill them two-thirds full).
Bake
Bake the cakes light golden brown at about 180 °C (355 °F) for 15-20 minutes. Let them cool in the molds a few minutes before turning them out.
Measurements are kept in grams, but spoons are converted to modern tablespoon/teaspoon. Drops of lemon are replaced with lemon essence / finely grated lemon zest. Baking temperature (about 180 °C (355 °F)) is given where the original says "moderately hot oven."
