Original 1914 recipe
Verbatim from the first edition of the Big Cookbook.

A simple recipe from Erken's Stor kokebok (Great Cookbook, 1914) in which wax beans (mangetout, whole edible pods) are boiled tender in salted water like string beans and served with creamed butter.
Source: Henriette Schønberg Erken, Stor kokebok, 1914-utg. s. 398 (falt i det fri)
One of several short bean recipes in the chapter on root vegetables and greens. Erken refers to the preceding recipe for string beans, which are boiled tender in salted water.
Clean the beans
Wash the beans, remove any strings and top and tail them.
Boil the beans
Put the beans in boiling, salted water and boil them tender under a lid, just like string beans. Drain off the water.
Serve
Beat the butter at room temperature until soft and light, and serve it with the piping hot beans.
Quantities have been added as guidance (the original gives none), and "creamed butter" is kept as a term but explained as room-temperature, beaten butter.
