Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to make the lemonade?
Count on around 90 minutes in all. The work itself is quick, but the mixture should stand covered until it is completely cold before it is strained.
What does the recipe consist of?
1 lemon, 2 1/2 dl water and 20 g sugar. The lemon is washed and dried, peeled very thinly, the juice squeezed out, and the zest and juice mixed with the boiling water.
Can I use orange instead?
Yes, Schønberg Erken writes that orangeade is made the same way.
Why does it say "if permitted" about the sugar?
The recipe belongs to the chapter on nursing and food for the sick in "Stor kokebok" (1914), where drinks were made according to the doctor's instructions – the sugar was therefore only added if it was permitted for the patient.
