Original 1914 recipe
Verbatim from the first edition of the Big Cookbook.

Dried plums: air-dried for a couple of days, laid on a rack stem-side up and dried at the top of the oven at 40–50 °C, rising to 70 °C toward the end.

A short guide to drying plums. Erken places the plums high in the drying oven because they need a lower starting temperature than fruit such as apple and pear.
Air-dry
Let the plums air-dry for a couple of days.
Lay on the rack
Lay the plums on the drying rack stem-side up.
Dry
Place the rack at the top of the oven at 40–50 °C (120 °F). Toward the end the temperature may rise to 70 °C (160 °F).
No quantity is given in the original; an estimate of 1 kg plums has been inserted. The method is broken into steps and the language modernized.
