Revised 1949 recipe
From the revised edition of the Big Cookbook.

The recipe makes a large batch and needs a goro iron. Part of the butter may be replaced with boiled lard, and part of the flour with potato flour.
Whisk eggs and sugar
Whisk the eggs and sugar for 30 minutes. Add the whipped cream, cognac and vanilla or lemon zest.
Add butter and flour
Add the butter and flour alternately. Keep some flour back for rolling out. Leave the dough overnight in a cold place.
Roll and cut
Roll the dough as thin as possible. Cut a paper template to fit the iron, lay it on the rolled dough and cut out the wafers around it.
Bake
Bake the wafers a nice golden brown in a goro iron. Trim the edges immediately.
Variations
You can use half butter and half lard (lard that has been boiled). You can also use about 3/4 kg potato flour and leave out the same amount of wheat flour.
Measures converted (1/2 l = 5 dl). The "wine glass" of cognac is kept as a measure. The number of servings is an estimate.
