A simple oven dish using ready-made fish balls. Erken gives two versions of the sauce, with or without flour browned in the butter.
Place in a dish
Put the fish balls in a greased ovenproof dish.
Make the sauce
Brown the chopped onion in butter and spread it over the balls. Add the tomato purée and pour it over the balls. Alternatively, brown the flour in the butter and thin with a little fish stock; then add tomato purée to taste and pour the sauce into the dish.
Sprinkle
Sprinkle with grated cheese and crushed rusk crumbs.
Gratinate
Bake in a good hot oven (about 200 °C (390 °F)) for 10 minutes.
Measures are modernised (dcl. to dl). A good hot oven is interpreted as about 200 °C (390 °F). The title is adjusted to the text, which does not mention celery. The amount of fish balls is not given.
