Revised 1949 recipe
From the revised edition of the Big Cookbook.

An apple slice with the core removed is filled with a banana slice and grated horseradish, and can sit for 10 minutes in white wine and sugar to stop it darkening; the hole can also be filled with redcurrant jelly. From Erken's Stor kokebok (1949), p. 684.

The apple slice is meant as a garnish or topping for open sandwiches on the cold table, and the tip with white wine and sugar keeps the apple from browning.
Fill the apple
Put a slice of banana in the middle of the apple slice, where the core has been cut out. Sprinkle with a little grated horseradish.
Prevent browning
The apple slice can sit for 10 minutes in a mixture of 1/2 dl white wine and 1 tsp sugar so that it does not darken.
Alternative
The hole in the middle can also be filled with redcurrant jelly.
"1/2 del." is converted to 1/2 dl. The original gives no other quantities.
